Dean and Kylie have owned the Ashburton Versatile Homes and Buildings franchise since 2009. The area was formed and purchased by Dean’s parents Graeme and Anne Carr over 20 years ago.

Both Dean and Kylie work in the business; Dean managing the operational and contract side and Kylie the administration side.

Recently our new Housing Sales Consultant Brent Gibson has joined our team, he has over 35 year’s experience in the building industry.

Versatile Ashburton also has a great team of Qualified Builders who have been with the Ashburton franchise for more than 10 years.

Versatile Ashburton was awarded the Home of the Year award in 2015, Franchise of the Year - Runner-up in 2014 and the “Merit Award” Franchise of the Year 2012.

We are over the moon with our Versatile 2 bedroom Papamoa home and a seperate double garage (a must for the man of the house), the house has everything we need, it's cosy and warm and will be maintenance free for years to come, which was a must as we had changed from a 70 year wooden home.

The Versatile team at Ashburton were excellent to deal with, as they took care of everything from permits and stayed within our budget. What a relief as we didn't have a clue how to start as this was a first for us. We appreciated being able to stay on site in our camper and being kept informed of construction steps.

We have had lots of visitors since moving in and they are every impressed and quite surprised how room it is.

Versatile was the obvious choice

Versatile was the obvious choice when we were deciding on a company to build our garage. We like supporting local businesses and personal service is everything to us. After meeting Aaron and together coming up with a design, which was to be in keeping with our old weatherboard home, the plan drawings and quote were emailed to us within 20 minutes.

We were told from the onset that there would be a delay between the time we signed the contract to the time building started. We were happy with that as we were in no rush and appreciated the honesty.

The versatile building team turned up on the date we were told and were meticulous and tidy in their work. Our preschool children loved watching the building progress and the guys were so good with answering questions that we soon welcomed them into our family home for lunch and smoko.

They were very safety conscious and left their building site clean and tidy at the end of each day, something we really appreciated, having young children.

I am the first to admit I know what I want and have been referred to by my husband as a builder’s nightmare! Our building was finished off to the exceptional standard we expect. We were impressed with the project management, communication and execution of the Versatile team throughout the building process. So much so, that we plan to use them again in the near future for further buildings on our farm.

They organised everything!

Dean, Kylie and their team have built us a wonderful new home, including double garage and garden shed.

They organized everything, which took most of the stress away from us!

Before we signed the initial contract, they put up with all our very particular questions, bending over backwards to make sure we felt completely comfortable with our decision to build with them. They continued to be very professional through the entire building process.

Like with most builds there were delays, but when it came to the crunch at the end and we had a deadline for moving in due to work demands they had us in with a few days to spare.

We've been enjoying our new home for three months now and it’s great! The few very minor issues that we've mentioned are always dealt with in a timely manner. As a result we can absolutely recommend Versatile Ashburton to you and if we were ever to build again in this area we wouldn’t hesitate to use them again! Thanks Dean and Kylie!

Nice & Tidy Site

Every part of the process was very good, very happy with the build. Good guys to work with. The team kept a nice and tidy site. They respected the existing concrete and surrounding buildings, as they had a small space. This is my second build with Versatile Ashburton. Happily re-use again.

Completed on time, on budget and with regular communication

We started with a standard Versatile "Cambridge" plan and we made plenty of changes: we made it wider to allow for wider passage and doorways; we made bedrooms bigger, lounge bigger, wardrobes bigger, we made room for a roomy store room. We added a double garage, a good size room for hobby activities and a really big workshop. All under the one coordinated roof line. The house was built while we were still living in Wellington and we only visited once during the building and we were very pleased that building was completed on time, on budget and with regular communication.
