The House Building Process
At Versatile Homes and Buildings we’ll work beside you every step of the way to make building your new home easy. Our House Building Process is as follows:
1. Identifying your needs
Bring us your wish list and our experienced team will help turn your ideas and dreams into reality. We can visit your site and discuss your specific requirements and budget.
2. Developing your plan
You can choose from one of our plans and add your own touches to it, modifying it to suit your needs, or bring your plan ideas to us. Once we understand your requirements, we will work with you to develop a site plan, floor plan and elevations.
3. Finalising your specifications
We will work with you closely to refine your plans to your exact requirements and specifications. We will also go through every detail of your new home, ensuring you get everything you require, from colours to tapware. Once complete, we’ll then present you with your design and comprehensive specifications of all products and materials to be used.
4. The Building Contract
Once the final design is confirmed, an agreement detailing your new home and your selected specifications will be drawn up.
5. Consent application
We deal with councils and building authorities every day throughout New Zealand and have a good understanding of the house building consent process. We will prepare full working consent drawings and submit these on your behalf. We will take care of the entire consenting process.
6. Consent Approved
Upon consent approval, we’ll contact you to arrange a meeting on site with your dedicated project manager, where we will outline the timeline for construction.

7. Construction
Once you have the necessary approvals, construction will begin on your new home! Throughout the process, strict quality controls ensures the highest standards. Progress payments are paid during different stages of the building process:
Consent issued
Completion of the roof
Completion of exterior cladding, windows, etc
Completion of interior walls, doors, etc
All work completed
8. Code Compliance
Once construction is complete, we will arrange for a final inspection with your local council so that a Code of Compliance Certificate can be issued.
9. Move in!
When construction is complete, we’ll meet you onsite and present you with the keys and all your warranty documentation. And it doesn’t stop there. If any issues arise after completion, we’ll come back and fix them.
